I met Doug Parise back in the late 1980s when I was playing Tuesday nights at Down on Mainstreet in Glassboro, NJ. Doug was an amazing illustrator who designed my first "Ahmet Sabri" logo with the words wrapped inside a line drawing of a guitar. This eventually evolved into the Johnny Turk logo which I still use today.

When I started planning my first ski trip in 92, I asked Doug to help me with promotional art - stuff I could use on flyers and t-shirts. Well let me tell you, he came up with some amazing stuff! All I said to him was I needed something playful and fun depicting me on skis with a guitar strapped to my back and a beer in my hand and, within a couple of weeks, he sent me the first draft of what became my first t-shirt.

Over the next couple of years, Doug created more illustrations, each one more amazing than the last. For the second ski trip, I asked him to create a caricature of me (now the more confident skier, ha ha) with two beers and he more than rose to the task. I hope you enjoy the images in this slideshow.
